Expletive! The July Daily Post plan started off so well! The good news is that I increased my posting frequency from about one per quarter to ten in a single month. The bad news is that there are more than ten days in July.
You see, I have this horrible habit of carrying yesterday’s incomplete tasks forward to today’s to-do list. This would be fine if I re-prioritized; eliminating some lower priority tasks and rescheduling some tasks forward to future dates. However, the cycle continues. On the third day, I roll forward the last two days of “incompletes” and still expect to get everything done. It always seems like I should be able to finish today’s tasks plus a few stragglers from yesterday. Maybe I’m born with it, maybe it’s optimism, but whatever it is, it’s not a realistic way to plan a day. So when I missed a blog post, writing it got moved to the next day and then they both got moved to the next and so on. Then before I knew it, it was 7/31 and I actually found myself pondering how long it would take me to write 21 posts in one day so I could still say i did 31 entries in 31 days. It would take a while, I concluded.
It was certainly an ambitious goal! I’m going to keep working my way up to daily posting but for now I’m going to focus on breaking my new monthly record of ten posts.
